The Bald Kid’s Surprises

As we watched the “Muppet Christmas Carol” the other night, the bald kid says, “I love that dude’s nightcap. I bet it’s freakin’ warm.” This from the kid who chooses to be bald…on purpose.

So, I got to thinking, maybe if your head is bald and it’s the only thing not under the covers at night, well, maybe you would be cold.

So, I took that same T-shirt–(remind me to show you all the things you can do with one discarded T-shirt) and fashioned this…

…lovely nightcap for the bald kid. And the best part was–he was sitting right there in the same room and never even noticed. That’s his foot at the top of the picture. He had no clue…

“Scrooge was a squeezing, wrenching, grasping, scraping, clutching, covetous, old sinner…”

But our bald kid is actually a pretty nice guy…hee hee…

So, one day last July, the bald kid says to me, “You know what would really be cool?”

I say, “I have no earthly idea.”

He says, “If you could make me some freaking cool, high top, slippers. But that would be too hard, wouldn’t it?”

I just smiled my sly little smile and said, “Yeah…way too hard.”

High Top Sneaker Slippers–in Viking colors, of course!

still in progress…

ARE YOU READY?!

The finished product. He is going to laugh his head off..

Oh, and yes, his feet are this big.

Oh, he wears them alright. We went on a cruise and he was running around the ship in some reggae slippers that I made him. Some guy on the elevator said, “Dude. Cool slippers. Where’d you get ‘em?” When he told him that his MOTHER made them for him, the guy said, “That’s right. Respect your mama. Tell her she could make bank on those things.”

    Isn’t that cool?

I found the pattern online by looking up Crochet Hightop slippers. I think I paid about 20 bucks for the pattern…I know, weird…but then I did the colors the way I wanted to–you know, for the Viking fan.

Email me here–if you’d like, and I’ll see if I can find the link to the pattern.

WOW that’s a fab nightcap! I will look out for a stripey top at the next jumble I’m at…

And fantastic boots. I’m crocheting a baby blanket at the moment but maybe I’ll have a go at making some very funky shoes…
