Oh, sure–I have a busload of other projects that need doing but fact is, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this scrumptious little baby ripple project…for that “certain” baby.

I’m trying out the stripe generator for the first time, so that I can get a feel for working with random colors. It’s kinda fun–in a wild sort of way–to let the computer tell me yarn to use next. This way, if it turns out a hideous waste, then of course it would be the computer’s fault. If, on the other hand, it turns out to be the most beautiful thing on earth, well then, it will be entirely MY doing. I sure you see my logic.

Now then, my friends…I’d like your opinion. My wise and all knowing daughter picked out a handful of lovely, trendy colors for this particular project and I’m having trouble deciding whether to use all 6 or not.

What do you think? With the yellow?

or without?

You know, if it were up to me, I’m just old school enough to think all colors need to be baby pastels, but I’m surrounded by brilliant, modern folk who are educating me on the finer art of color blending. It’s scary, unbroken ground, but I’ll tough it out and hopefully be wiser in the end.

So help me…please.

Skittles were a brand new candy the year my second baby was born. I ate a ton of them. In fact, I thought they were some kind of fruit group–citrus and berry or something. So when my little Lyndi was born I wasn’t a bit surprised to find that she came with her own fireworks…so to speak. Sugar induced, no doubt…and completely my own doing.

Giggling uncontrollably in the Mother’s Day program and cutting her own bangs the day before family pictures–we never knew what to expect from this one. She’d find any possible excuse for a party, be it Groundhog’s Day or Harry Potter’s Birthday–we simply had to celebrate. Still do, come to think of it.

Happy Birthday this week Lyndi!!

This little project was suppose to be a surprise for the babies birthdays–Chompy’s 2nd, and Lily and Beck’s 3rd.

But I guess I’m having too much fun sewing, stuffing, cutting…

tacking, stitching, embellishing…

buttoning, strapping, ziz-zagging…

(never mind wanting to play with all this cuteness myself–sheesh!)

to stop and actually give the presents to those sweet patient little souls.

Hopefully, by the end of the week, I’ll show you the finished projects.

And if the babies are lucky–they may just get them before…

Do you remember waking on Christmas morning before it was even light outside, and shaking with excitement as you saw the front room that had been transformed into a sparkling, positively magical place? Boy, I do.

It was so wonderful watching Chompy open her presents, and love them…

even the clothes! What a good sport of a baby.

Jillian could hardly believe the lovely gifts she received from her dearest friend Sarah–all the way from England!

The bald kid was thrilled with his Russian vocabulary book. Pretty sure that’s going to come in handy–real soon.

Then our April and the “second wave” arrived. Sounds like the name of a band–don’t you think?

The babies were sweet to take turns and tried very hard to wait patiently until their turn to open a present…

but they never understood why we would ask them to come open something else–when they were happily playing with what they already had. Perhaps next year, we’ll take things a bit slower and maybe take a full week or so to unwrap. Don’t know if anyone will agree with me, but wouldn’t a couple of presents every day be great fun–instead of all at once?

Ok, it’s true. We did have our share of meltdowns here and there, simply because…

we didn’t know that a toy drum would be the hit of the land…and there are three kids…and one drum.

Do the math.

But the day was, by farrrr—a mystical, magical thing, with enough squeals and giggling to add a hundred years to this grammy’s heart.

I do hope your Christmas was everything that brings you joy!  Thanks for being with us!

Happy Saturday my friends.

My momma said that she could stick this little fluffy baby under the Christmas tree and I’d be content forever–or at least while she got some of her work done. The lights and tinsel and shiny glass ornaments still have the same effect on me these days. I could sit in a dim room, lit only by the tree and be happy for a long, long time.

Last year, while trying to recreate some of the past Christmas magic, I realized that we were missing tinsel. Even in a black and white photo–you can see how sparkly and magic it is–and I wanted to give my kids a bit of…ancient culture. Anyway, I went to several places and no luck. No tinsel to be found…anywhere. One clerk even told me that it was banned because cats eat it and die. Wow–that was a bit dramatic. At any rate, I quit looking for that nasty cat slaying tinsel from that second on.

Until…after…Christmas, when–without looking–I found a whole cart full at Rite Aid for ten cents a piece. It was meant to be.

Watch out Beany boy…

I sort of bought 6 million packs…

for posterity’s sake.

heh, heh.

It’s funny–isn’t it–that these little ones don’t really question…

all the boxes and crates and tins that we carry in from wherever they’ve been hiding since last Christmas.

Do you think they wonder why this time of year we surround ourselves with sparkly stars, gingerbread, pine cones and tiny shepherds?

Or do you think, maybe…

that in their gentle angel hearts…

They just know?
