Spring is in the air. Sure it may be cold still, but that doesn’t matter. Spring is on its way. It’s just got to be here somewhere. So start preparing for it. Easter is coming up in a few weeks too. So I say now would be a good time to clear away any straggling Leprechauns and bust out the bunnies. Let the rowdy lion of March go out like a lamb instead. Hopefully.
One way to invite the spring into your home is to decorate your place with flowers. For those of you fortunate enough to have garden, go plant a few of your favorites right along the path to your doorstep or somewhere close to a window so you can see them grow. It will brighten up your day every time you walk by it.
For those of you who stuck in an apartment or condo, I know how you feel. It’s like cabin fever for the land-lovers to not be able to be in charge of what people put in the dirt around you. Or maybe you don’t want to buy flowers because they also seem to die too quickly if put in a vase on your table. Or maybe you’re allergic. Or maybe you don’t even like flowers. So what do you do? How do you let spring in?
Don’t worry. I have a plan for you…
You make your own.
I saw this on a table at a group dinner I went to the other day. It’s really simple. Here’s what you’ll need to make the easy Easter egg flower:
First take the clear plastic cup and fill it with the green Easter grass. Then take half of the Easter egg and place it in the middle the piece of paper. Hold the egg in place while you trace a circle on the piece of paper with your pen or pencil. Cut the hole out. Then cut a fun design a few inches away from the hole for the edge of the flower petals. Put the Easter egg halves back together, slip the paper “petals” hole around the egg, then place the completed “flower” in the cup on top of the grass.
And there you have it. Your very own portion of spring that will never die… in theory at least. I won’t force you to keep it up for the rest of your life. I promise.
How cute and happy… and that is pretty simple. Now where did we put the Easter stuff. I KNOW we’ve got some of those eggs around here SOMEwhere!

Awwww, so cute. Now I have a use for the tons (and I do mean TONS) of paper in my basement that I will never use for a scrapbook page! Thanks for the cute idea!

Now…ahhh…couldn’t we fill that cup about half-way full of…say…JELLYBEANS? Or…Reese’s candy…or one scrumptious Cadbury Egg? I’m all about buried treasure! Heh, heh, heh.
Cute idea kiddo. :]
